I can't believe how much STUFF I've got going on. I had a Rainbow Girls Parent Advisor's meeting tonight. I definitely don't want to do it next year. Parents who don't show up. No wonder why the kids don't come to their meetings.
Anyway, we got home at 9:30 pm, well after being able to say good night to Cassi. Sitting here on the computer, which I've been doing MUCH less of at home. Ever since this new position, I just don't want to be on the computer at nights. But, I'm trying to keep my writing up. So, for at least 2 nights a week, I'll be on the computer.
While I'm here, I'm also listening to iTunes. Working on a new playlist from Rob's desktop. I've got iTunes on my desktop too, but I figured I would create it here. Yet another "Me" list. I'll copy the list and create it for my iPhone later on.
I'm listening to my new headphone buds. Keeping the outside sounds out and helping make these sounds MUCH nicer.
Working on relaxing a little before bed. Have to come up with an agenda for my training day on Thursday. I think I'm ok. Once I get the agenda set, then, I'll rewrite some of the instructions I've written for this training.
I REALLY want to go out dancing. There's no good places for the music I like to dance to. Hmmm. I know that I would lose some weight this way. Dance a few nights a week. I know I'm working VERY hard to get off the soda kick. Almost all gone. I don't drink soda at work. That's a BIGGIE for me. I'm already seeing a couple pounds lost.
I have an AWESOME male friend who says I am fine just the way I am. He feels it's the person inside that's more important. He's so SWEET. Guess my hubby likes me this way too. He married me! Other issues there, but I'm trying to stay up beat.
I started all kinds of posts yesterday because I was VERY upset. But, in under 24 hours, those feelings have changed. Love it when I swing from one side to the other like this. Good thing I understand this and can handle it on my own like I have for so many years. I swear in a past life I was a Psychologist or a Psychiatrist because I can discuss my issues to myself and talk about them to myself and figure them out like I was "out of body" as a 3rd-person.
Ugh! I've got a headache now. Where's someone who can give me a back massage? I give them out so freely here but don't get them. Ok. Don't want to go down that road tonight. Miss chatting with my friend, but I know he's busy so I won't bug him. I'll wait to see when he calls me.
I sent him a letter but didn't actually get around to explaining why I wrote it. I'm so scatterbrained that my thoughts go 500 places all at once.
OK. Going to just listen to music now.
Lots of love,
Cathy
Wow! It's been a while since I've been on here. Married now 15 years and still writing away! My job is very logical so this is where I come to be creative! Hopefully I can keep it going again. Help me and suggest stuff to write about.

Constant Craving by KD Lang
I heard this song on the show Glee. I just LOVE that show. I've been getting most of the volumes of music as I like the way they do music so much. The words of this song just sing to me, no matter what the intended meaning of it is.
Even through the darkest phase
Be it thick or thin
Always someone marches brave
Here beneath my skin
And constant craving has always been
Maybe a giant magnet pulls
All souls towards truth
Or maybe it is life itself
Feeds wisdom to its youth
Constant craving has always been
Craving, ah, ha
Constant craving has always been
Has always been
Constant craving has always been
Constant craving has always been
Craving, ah, ha
Constant craving has always been
Has always been
Has always been
Has always been
Has always been
Has always been
FYI...This is post 500 on this blog for me!

Why I Don't Make Plans...
All week, I told everyone, reminded everyone that I was headed to Barnes & Noble for a book signing and to see old friends, people I haven't seen in 12+ years.
I was SO excited!
This morning, we get ready to go to church as they were doing Puppets of Grace for the kids. Come to find out my daughter has no pants for school that fit. So everything was cancelled.
Makes me VERY upset.
That is all!

You...
Have been talking about you a lot this week.
He's been calling you my boyfriend. Been asking if you are getting any. If you are then you should get it all, even my bills.
He's joking. Don't be concerned. He isn't jealous.
I can't wait to see you again though.
Wanna be my BF?
With thoughts and love,
Cathy

Today...
Not happy at all. Everything changed in the span of time of about 30 seconds.
Cassi and I were headed to church. OT my shower and got dressed. Come to find out my child's pants for school are ALL too small and too short.
So all my plans are shot for the day. And my hubby wonders why I never schedule anything. I don't get to see my friends at church; don't get to see former coworkers from E&Y that I haven't seen in about 13 years.
That's the downside to being married with children.

Rumors...
Rumors...Office Gossip...
A friend was talked about. I heard about it, was told a story. I wasn't happy about it. I'm still not happy about it. Don't want to share what was said. I've told the person what had been said because I felt that person should know. And that person responded that the story wasn't true. Guess the telephone game was running rampant on it!
It makes me VERY upset and sad about it. And that person can't defend themselves since they only come to the office a couple times a year. I feel like I need to be that person's defender and protector. Wow! What feelings come over me.
Listening to some sad music right now. Makes me realize that my depression isn't that far away from me. But, I am being strong and have told the person who told me that they not discuss it with anyone else.
Makes me realize that I shouldn't do that to anyone else, even if they actually are that way.
I discussed it just a couple days ago. It won't go away. It feels just as strong today as it did then. Only a few people have ever had me feeling like this when something like this has come up.
I thank the person for sharing their story with me. BUT, even that story made me sad. If we were close enough, I would spend time with that person to try to help make everything better.
Ok. Need to not be sad for now. This person knows how much I care. Needed/Wanted to share with anyone reading me.

It's Saturday at 10:15 pm...
Shew! So many things to discuss but where do I start?
I have so MANY friends who live too far away to just visit. That would have been cool on a Saturday night! I did get to play with my iPhone. I needed to reset my music. With so many songs and just NOT ENOUGH room. So, I'm picking stuff I want to listen to at work. Since I gave the Pod back to the hubby man, I'm using this not just for the phone but to listen to.
All is good.
But, back to my friends. Even for those who are here, my closest friends are at least an hour away. Anytime I want to visit, it's always an all day adventure. We had a dinner tonight with the lodge so it was no visiting for me. BUT, I have this one friends, I would REALLY love to visit, hang out, watch some of the boob tube, talk, etc. It would be an all-day road trip just to get to his house. I've been nosy about visiting. What is his house like? How is it decorated? I know he likes to bake. AND, it would definitely be fun to bake with him. Why? Because he likes Zucchini Bread. And, I have a to-die-for recipe. I've not shared it with many people. My hubby's grandmother gave it to me. And, I've turned it into other dessert breads. And my friend, among other people, think I should start a bakery business.
BUT, I'm afraid. There's too much at stake right now that holds me back. My friend has been supportive. Have never asked, but I bet he would agree and support me.
He's the one that got me back into the blogging game. And writing in general. I've been using my nifty little iPhone to keep my notes like I used to before. I've been doing so many logical things that my creative side has been hampered. Hopefully I can get my butt back in gear. Plus, I'm ready to head back to school in the Fall, looking for my Master of Arts in Education and a Education Technology endorsement.
Shew! Lots to do. Plus, come next year is my high school's 50th year anniversary. I can't wait! I definitely want to go, even if I have to drive the Friday right after work and stay until Sunday afternoon before returning. I have SOOOO many people I want to see.
As you can tell, my thoughts are VERY scatter-brained. I think this may help me get my thoughts in order too!
"I love you more than I can say!" - listening to More Than I Can Say by Leo Sayer
Listening to a playlist right now that I called Me! It has music from the 70's until now. It's even got Glee music, 70's, 80's, Soft Rock, Country, etc. I think it's got a little of everything.
"The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone else believes in him and is willing to trust him with his friendship. "
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
I found this saying today, I think it's just AMAZING!
With that, I'm going to close for the night.
May say more later! But, I'm done for now!
Lots of love,
Cathy

Back to the Blog!
Looks like I'm going to try this again. I've REALLY missed writing on here these past few years. Since I've been gone, I was part-time and now full-time. I'm very involved with logical projects and processes. I'm hoping to recapture my creativity here in my writing.
I have a WONDERFUL friend who has showed me how good it feels to be creative again. YEAH! And, as my sister says, everything happens for a reason.
So, I'm opening up this blog again. Those of you who start to read me again, some of my items will never get published, I'll have to see.
Lots of love to all,
Cathy

Stuff...
Sorry guys! It's been a VERY long time since I wrote. It's been a very emotional time for me these past weeks.
For the positive, Cassi has made some new friends. She has another Alexis friend (that's 3 now in her age range). My co-worker and friend Jennifer invited us to her youngest daughter's birthday party on Saturday. Chelsea turned 4. Cassi is so excited. The reason is that once school is over, Jen's mom is going to babysit Cassi. Not only will Cassi get to play with Jen's kids, she'll also get to play with Jen's sister's kids. I got to meet her family on Saturday. They're all hilarious.
Plus, Rob and I met new people and have started hanging out together. Very nice couple. And, they have 2 girls. So, now Cassi has a Margaret friend. Can't wait for dad to start calling her maggot! I had a friend growing up named Margaret. If my dad didn't like you, he wouldn't pick on you. He was ALWAYS calling her maggot because he liked her. So, Cassi will have a full and busy summer with her new friends. Even though she has her friends from school, I like the idea of her getting out and meeting others. Plus, we really don't see her friends over break. I'll have to make some friend cards for her to give to friends for the summer. So they can call each other.
That might be a good idea.
So, this weekend was crazy for me. Marie sent me a note the other day, telling me about a Web site that allows people who create crafts for sale to have an avenue to sell them. So, I registered. Haven't gotten much farther yet. Because I have so MANY different products, I'm looking a creating groupings of the items, sell them together as sets, instead of individually. I think I'll focus on my recipe cards, bookmarks, and teabag envelopes to begin with and go from there. An excellent project for the summer.
Here's my site:

There's so much going on in my life right now, I can't see straight. With the end of school comes the major projects for them (that I do). I absolutely REFUSE to buy the dogtags they give out to the kids. I'm working on cutting and completing this projects. They are giving out 19 different tags. They give them to the kids for field day, attendance, student council, etc. Plus, with my graphic design and manipulation experience, I'm able to customize the graphics I've downloaded. This year, seven of the designs are new AND manipulated. Plus, on each tag, it says the school and year. With the company they purchased from before, this information wasn't on it and was very standard. Not so now.
The first full week of the month was not only Nurses Appreciation Week but also Teacher's Appreciation Week. Didn't realize both happened at the same time (this is your reminder for next year). Even though we weren't able to purchase the lunch for the teacher's as they do a luncheon every year, I made their desert. I purchased new cup cake pans that make edible bowls. So, I made yellow, white, and chocolate cupcake bowls. Then, I sent with the cupcakes sliced strawberries and pineapples (and some coolwhip). I've also used the pans to make cornbread bowls. Just last week, we had our first FEASTival. Yes, feast! One of my product managers made chili and I offered the cornbread bowls. I think everyone had a good time.
Tomorrow Rob will have his Mason meeting. I've offered to bake for that meeting. Stil deciding what to make. I think peach cobbler is a good suggestion (have peaches to make it). And sandwiches.
Can you believe with all of this baking, I've lost 5 pounds? Yep. I really enjoy baking. Helps me relax. And, I've needed it.
Need to relax because I'm nervous. Don't want to get into it right now as there hasn't been a decision yet on what I did. As soon as a decision is given, I'll provide more details.
And, with that, I'm really tired. I think I want a short nap right now. But, I also have three more dog tags to finish designing and printing.
Lots of love to everyone!
More as soon as I can.

My beliefs (do they matter?)
I have many beliefs, the same beliefs that are being taught to my daughter. I've never really "voiced" my opinions. Lately, I feel like my opinions don't matter. That I've had to compromise so much for others.
Here is what I believe:
I DON'T believe in teens having pre-marital sex.
I DON'T believe in teen pregnancy.
I DON'T believe in cell phones for anyone who's not an adult.
I DON'T believe in car drivers who don't have car insurance.
I DO believe in strong education and learning.
I DO believe in strong self-esteem that comes from strong education and learning.
I DO believe in teenagers learning a work ethic from getting their first jobs in high school.
I DO believe in parents directing their children (and teenagers) to be the best they can be.
I DO believe in children listening and following what adults say.
I DO believe in children respecting adults.
Right now, I think that's about it. But, these are my beliefs and what I will teach my daughter. I DO believe without learning the above, my daughter is helpless in the world.
Love,
Cathy

Tolerance and Acceptance
I think I've finally become "old." I'm being forced to accept and tolerate someone and don't want to. I'm being forced if I want a happy home.
How do you learn tolerance and acceptance when you don't agree with how that person was raised or lives?
I'm trying, but it's difficult for me.
Wish me luck and prayers.
Lots of love,
Cathy

Other Things Going On Right Now...
Ok. There are a MILLION things going on around the house right now. Here's a sampling:
1. Bathroom renovation (complete demo and rebuild)
2. Paneling coming down in kitchen and walls being fixed correctly
3. Both cars had problems (always happens when we need to do stuff in the house)
4. Working on Accounting class with a friend (so she can pass)
5. Work (still only working part-time)
6. Participated in bowl-a-thon
7. Have stories to share with more pictures (to come, I promise)
8. etc....
That's it for now. Waaaaay too much stuff to deal with.

Down at the Hennes Grille
We found out today who (or what) has been eating all our bird food from the feeder. When you come out of our front door and turn left, you'll find the bird feeder we purchased. Something Cassi can use to feed the birds and also hold flowers.
Anyway, for those of you who have read this blog, you know that we have in our home a wood pellet/corn burning stove. The corn comes from the local grain mills and is actually the same corn used to feed livestock. This corn isn't completely clean for our use. All we need is the corn, but what we get also contains cob pieces, etc. So, in our process to use the corn, we filter out the cob pieces and smaller corn pieces. This excess can be used to feed the birds as it's already broken down and small enough for them.
What we didn't know was that it's also GREAT for the local squirrels. Hence the term, Grille, comes into play. Rob went outside for a cigarette and noticed a grey squirrel atop the container, with the roof pushed aside, a veritable smorgasbord for him. Here are the pictures I was able to catch of him. He had to have been there at least 20 minutes eating away. Another came over and tried to eat too. But, this one took the whole container to hold him.
When he realized I was snapping pictures, he climbed down and scurried away.
The proof:

Are these job openings for real...
Or are these HR Departments just padding their resume files?
It sure seems to me that they are padding their resume files. I would have to say that I have been applying for jobs at least 5 a week since I graduated from school. Of the number of companies who have contacted me regarding openings for which I can count them on my two hands, it seems ALL of these positions that appear to be open are BOGUS!
How can there be THAT many openings when EVERY day, another company announces layoffs?
Just heard today that GM will layoff 14,000 salaried employees by May. Last week, heard that National City Bank (now part of PNC) will layoff 5,800 employees (but that's across the entire company of PNC, not just National City.
So, how can companies be attending job fairs and accepting resumes when they just don't SEEM to be hiring. FYI...Cleveland State University, here in the Cleveland area, is holding a Job Fair on February 27, with an estimated 100+ companies showing up.
On top of that, the majority of companies don't even WANT to talk to you. This goes for job fairs. They don't want to accept your resume in paper. They talk to you, tell you what they are looking for, then when you TRY to give them your resume, they tell you, "No. Sorry, we can't accept paper resumes here. Go to our Web site and apply there."
Huh? Isn't it the point of coming to a job fair to ACCEPT paper resumes, that the goal is to HIRE the people you meet?
No wonder why everyone is frustrated. Look at the IDIOTS who are in charge of the Human Resources and Recruiting functions of companies. They DON'T want to talk to you. Heaven forbid!
I just did a search on www.indeed.com. This Web site will allow you to search multiple job search engine sites, like Monster.com, Dice.com, etc. You enter in a search term and a zip code for a simple search. I've never done the advanced search, but I do know you can search a mileage radius from the zip code you've picked. Every now and then, I will look up EVERYTHING within my zip code (and 25 mile radius). This evening, the results returned over 5,000 jobs. Yes, you heard me FIVE THOUSAND!
Yes, I understand that the majority of those jobs are not in my field, which is actually a LARGE field based on what I've done in the past, along with the education I just received, but COME ONE! Five thousand openings! You've GOT to be joking!
And I'm still working a part-time job because no one wants to hire someone with a Bachelor's Degree and over 15 years employment experience. OK, so my employment happened before my education. But, I've got it!
Someone HIRE ME!
That's it. I'm off the soapbox now.
Lots of love,
Cathy

It sure seems to me that they are padding their resume files. I would have to say that I have been applying for jobs at least 5 a week since I graduated from school. Of the number of companies who have contacted me regarding openings for which I can count them on my two hands, it seems ALL of these positions that appear to be open are BOGUS!

Code Switching...
OK. I'm going to work at writing actual posts about INFORMATION. This one has been on my mind more lately than ever. I learned about this phrase in Fall 2008 while still at school. I was taking an English class that dealt with the education side of my degree. If I ever decided to go back to get my secondary teaching license for English, this class is one of the requirements. This class dealt with the rhetoric of teaching English as well as developing lesson plans, etc.
Anyway, we learned about a concept called Code Switching. This is where certain populations of people change the way they speak based on the group of people they are with, in simple terms. Take for example a person is from another country. That person's primary language is possibly another language, like Spanish or French. But, for the sake of this story, the person is a student, in an all-English speaking class. When this person goes to school, they have (or supposed to) speak in all English. But, when they go home, they return to their native tongue to speak to family members. This is code switching.
I've read on many of the forums I read where posters complain about other posters who don't know how to read or write correctly. And then go into writing "how" they should act on that specific forum.
Being an English major, I know exactly what they mean. No matter what I read or where I read it, I'm ALWAYS putting in words or mentally editing what other people write. Whether it's on a forum or the information at the doctor's office, I'm always editing and proofreading while I read it.
But, I also do code switching. My code switching deals primarily with text messaging. I hate when anyone sends me text messages that are all acronyms. Rob's daughter sends him text messages that are all acronyms. To me, if you can't WRITE a message correctly, why should you write it? I ABSOLUTELY refuse to respond to a message from anyone who writes in all acronyms. When Rob and I message each other, the message is correct grammatically. Yes, I have been known to have a spelling error, but when that happens, I try my hardest to fix it before it gets sent. I typically will write the message where the sentences aren't capitalized. You may find my messages come off like this: i like to write but don't like to capitalize, even though i do use correct grammar and punctuation.
So, what does this all mean to me? There are so many different people in the world who use code switching every day. I use it not only when I write my text messages, but also between home, friends, family, etc. When I go to work, I write and speak differently than I do when I'm at home. I also may speak differently between my friends and family. Every person does it. For some people it's just worse than others.
Think about when you code switch. Who do you do it with and what do you say? How do you say it? Think about what other people think when you speak with them.
Lots of love,
Cathy

Going to Write Here Again
OK, friends. I'm back again. Many things have been happening lately. And, I've got LOTS of photos and stories to update you on.
I wanted to setup my own blog, but it'll take too much of my time to do it. I may use it later, but for now, it will go by the wayside.
Special note and a warning: If you have a cell phone and all of a sudden you're getting phone calls that you don't recognize, DON'T ANSWER THEM. If they really wanted to talk to you, they will leave a message. Over the past week, I've been getting calls from ALL OVER the country. Actual numbers that I can use Switchboard to find where the number allegedly comes from. This evening's phone calls were the straw that broke the camel's back. I looked up this number and couldn't find anything. It was an "876" number. OK. No message, but 30 seconds later, the number called again. And, again, I'm not answering!
Within 5 minutes, a Cleveland-area number calls and calls a second time within 30 seconds. I "Google" that number. Come to find out spammers are now able to use phone numbers, masking their real numbers to try to get you to wire them money.
Tomorrow, I'm headed to the cell phone company to have my number changed. Yes, they are trying to call my cell phone.
JACKASSES!
Since I've been working, I barely use the voice part of my phone, especially because I try not to answer the phone AT work at all. So, my ringer is set to NONE. But, I continue this all the time. For those people who call me, I know when they're calling me to watch for them. But also, most of the people who call me also know other ways to tell me they're calling.
CAN'T FOOL ME!
So, after tomorrow, those people who need to know my number will get it.
Lots of love to all,
Cathy

Getting Ready for Craft Show
Yep, you heard that right. I'm doing one craft show this year. It's a show that's being run by one of Rob's lodge groups. So, I'm finalizing all my goodies for the show.
As some of you know, last year I put together a kid's coloring book that turned out to be a hit at my few shows. This year, I've got 5 (4 of them are ready). I'm printing them as we speak. I'm only printing 5 of each to see how they sell.
Plus, I've put together 5 binders of all my goodies as templates, along with a binder of completed samples.
Other stuff I'll have at the show:
Tea Bag Envelopes (good "different" gifts that can be added into greeting cards)
Recipe Cards
Bookmarks
Chore Charts (white board)
Reading Logs
Make-A-Card Sets
Note Cards
Friend Cards
Plus, we're also going to put out our Watkins Products for demo. Hopefully, I can get a few parties dated for October and November. I'll have to put a couple of calendars together to try to date a few parties. Yep, we're also starting our biz again. We've been running it for the past 5 years, but haven't really "sold" stuff. We've just been buying the stuff ourselves to use. Not know what Watkins is? Well, if you like to bake, you would REALLY like to use these products. They've also got personal care and home care products. You can check out the products at http://www.watkinsonline.com. But, please, if you are interested in ordering and would like to have me (and Rob) as your salesmen, let us know and we can set you up with a customer number.
OK. Off the soapbox now.
Everyone wish me luck at my show. Hopefully, it turns out to do well.
That's it. I've been REALLY busy today. Cassi's at Pa and Nana's. Mom had surgery on Wednesday. Don't know how she's going to handle being off work 4 weeks. But, Cassi wanted to go see them so she could help take care of Nana this weekend. I'll see what happens tomorrow when they call because she's bored.
Cassi has her school pics on Monday. She'll be so pretty!
It's 11pm. I really need to crash. I'm tired. Was up last night til 2am and was up this morning at 7am. I took a 20 minute nap this evening. I'm ready for bed.
Good night all!
Love to ya,
Cathy

Looking...Again...
I'm on the lookout again and applying for jobs. I've only been working an extra hour last week and this week. I now support 5 people. In the last 2 weeks, I was given 2 more people to being secretary to and not given an option of going full-time.
But, on the bright side, because I DON'T get paid for holidays and sick leave, I can make up that time by working extra hours.
So, that's what I've been doing.
And, because I have the extra management to support and extra projects to handle, there's no reason why continuing working these extra hours can't continue....
Until I chat with my boss about the amount of work I am doing and that, after we have our meeting to discuss what projects I am working on, that it is possible that continuing to work longer hours is necessary.
And, then I got the push back. Some resistance against it. But, my meeting isn't until Thursday afternoon. I am tracking EVERY day this week the laundry list of things I am doing that are filling my time. Can you believe I was so busy Monday morning that I didn't GO until lunch time and then after lunch only went once?
So, I've been applying for professional jobs again. The first one is with the job I was with in the past. I emailed my former supervisor who still works there. After a few emails, she tells me to expect a call from "name here," the recruiter who is hiring for the job. She talked to the recruiter about my being a good fit for the job. Ooh. Could work there.
Or, I met with someone about a Technical Writing job with a local company. The company is located in Akron, but the option of telecommuting is there. The company just doesn't have the space. Of course, I would have to go into the office, say, once a week. But that's good. The commute is an hour one way. But, for one day a week and the potential salary, I am being considered.
OK. I talked with dad about all this. I wanted to let him know what was going on. He always says we don't tell him. So I did. And he didn't like it. Because I don't have a baby sitter in the morning. And, where is she going in the afternoon? I told her the afternoons were covered. But, if I was working in Cleveland, I wouldn't get home until 6 pm. He couldn't always take off for her. No, I never asked him to. She is at a babysitter in the afternoons. And, she can stay there until 6 pm. She has other kids she keeps just as long. As for the mornings, at this point, I have not asked one of the 2 other moms I know that run day care businesses in the area. I can ask them as, if I had to work in Cleveland, I would probably have to leave at 7 am, dropping her off to the sitter then. Then, what if Rob gets a day job. For those of you who don't know, he works nights as a nurse, but is trying to transfer, within the same company, to another facility that's during the day. This would allow him to be at home in the evenings with us. He is now missing it, and Cassi asks about him some nights when she wants to see him.
So, we'll see. And, it can't hurt to try. My goal at going back to school was to go back to being a professional-level employee again. One of these jobs would definitely do it for me.
Send all prayers this way. I NEED it.
Lots of love,
Cathy
P.S. My sister, Marie, sent me an awesome book, The Host (same author as the Twilight books). I've just really gotten into this weekend. No, I'm not like VP, who can't put the book down until I'm done. There's WAAAAAY too many other things that need done. But, I am working on it. Definitely good before bed reading and "me time" that I was wanting.
